HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has recently awarded Deloitte a significant post-Brexit contract, potentially valued at £100 million. This partnership entails Deloitte taking on the responsibility of designing, building, operating, and maintaining a state-of-the-art digital system catering to businesses engaged in cross-border trade across the UK.
Following the UK’s departure from the European Union, the nation is in the process of implementing new regulatory and tax measures concerning international trade. As a part of the government’s comprehensive 2025 UK border strategy, the Single Trade Window (STW) project aims to offer traders a unified digital platform. This platform enables them to submit information just once, with the data shared among all relevant teams and agencies as needed.
While HMRC spearheads this transformative project, the impact of Brexit, combined with prior austerity measures that strained the civil service, has led to the engagement of additional support from the private sector. Consequently, HMRC has chosen Deloitte, a reputable member of the Big Four firms, to collaborate in developing this innovative cross-border trade portal.
