Barclays, the British multinational universal bank headquartered in London, has chosen Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to conduct a comprehensive strategic review. With a successful run in 2022, Barclays has achieved impressive profits over the last two years, yet its share prices continue to underperform. Despite significant efforts, the share value has yet to recover half of its pre-2007 financial crisis peak.
To enhance its market valuation, Barclays has engaged BCG to delve into its operations and identify opportunities for improvement. BCG’s focus will be on assessing risk-weighted assets within its investment bank division and optimizing the positioning of Barclays’ wealth and retail businesses.
As one of the world’s three largest strategy firms, BCG, alongside McKinsey & Company and Bain & Company, is renowned for its expertise in assisting leading corporations and governments in navigating strategic transformations and addressing complex challenges. This collaboration with Barclays is not the first time BCG has been selected, underscoring its established reputation in the industry.
